Movie Review - The Terror Live

I was wondering-while watching this movie-, what is it that i find so fascinating about Korean motion pictures? Could it be the plot, the script, the story development, the director's skill, perhaps the actors themselves?..

It is simpler than that.
Korean movies have the ability to breed ideas from the momentum. Not the action momentum but rather the emotional one. Koreans don't seek to impress with technology in action films like this one. They use it as a prop in order to built upon it an amalgam of sentimental crossroads. And it is in between these crossroads that we discover the formula that astounds our psyche. And this formula consists of a horrifying truth. That we are all part of the same collective trauma that molds our destiny. There are no boundaries, no distinct roles as to which side we are part of. It's raw, it's shocking... it's real!

The war on terror is much deeper that the way it is presented by the mainstream media and conceived by the masses. "The Terror Live" does not follow the over simplified road, that calls us to pick a side in order to limit the losses. Or to follow the good cause. The whole terror issue is a psychological one. From the individual to the community, everybody has their share in the propagation of... fear. And fear has nothing to do with death nor being deprived of a certain lifestyle. Fear has everything to do with the realisation that we are all in the same fraction of the equation. Human Nature!

It is this very human nature that congregates the different elements that feed the personal fear to the point it becomes a collective one. It is this constant process that urges us, not to seek for ways to maximize the gains of the ultimate victory but to limit the losses. Because, at the end of the day, we all lose in this war. For we all feed this war with the different elements that mold our personal fears. We are terrorised not by our wrongful choices but by out twisted need to gain from them.

The person is the key in this war, because this war is personal. That is why we are all in the same fraction of the equation. That is why the movie needs to focus only on the person. On one person. The one that personifies all the alibies of our fears. The TV anchor. He is the frame. He is in frame. And at the end of the day, he is framed. Because the very essence of any fear in the process of being distilled, is to search for a transposition of its primal cause. To search for a patsy. That way, any civilasitaion, any lifestyle can move on towards its destiny. Perhaps in fear. Certainly terrorised by fear.
But in any way... Live!

This is a strong movie. I give it a well deserved 3,5 stars out of 5.
